Narrow aisle forklifts
Narrow aisle forklifts are usually used in warehousing operations. These forklifts are essential equipments within the industry since their excellent maneuverability and small size allow warehouses to utilize space to maximum storing capacity. They could easily go around aisles which are 1.8 meters wide, whereas standard lift trucks need 3.4 meters of aisle width, at least.
This particular kind of forklift is sub-categorized as "narrow aisle forklifts" and "very narrow aisle forklifts". The first require 2.4 meters - 3 meters in aisle width, whereas the second could function in a 1.8 meters wide space.
The design of the narrow aisle forklift features forks which are positioned at right angles to the body of the truck. The trucks do not need to face the shelves, but instead drive straight down the aisle picking up loads to the side. This particular design feature is the key to their suitability for tight spaces.
Some very narrow aisle forklifts come with wire or optical guidance systems which ensure the forklift moves in a straight line down the aisle, which leaves the operator free to concentrate on load placement and picking.
These kinds of lifts are outfitted with cushion tires made from solid rubber. The hard tires perform well on smooth, paved surfaces and concrete floors. Narrow aisle forklifts have electric motors that is best utilized within indoor places. Propane-powered models are available also.
