Aisle Types
Lift trucks are classified due to the types of aisles they have been designed to operate in. Narrow Aisle and Wide Aisle lift trucks are designed to turn in the aisle, whilst Very Narrow Aisle trucks really don't turn in the aisle. There are certain aisle widths to take into consideration with various models.
VNA or Very Narrow Aisle trucks work in less than 6 feet areas and normally use certain guidance systems such as optical, rail or wire systems in order to travel in the aisles. Some various models of VNA trucks consist of Turret Trucks, Swing Masts and Order Selectors. These are popular models in compact retail spaces and in some storage and warehouse situations.
Narrow Aisle or NA trucks could operate in aisles which are 8 feet to 10 feet. Usually these are stand-up units like Reach Trucks. They are often used in storage facilities and warehouses.
Wide Aisle Standard forklifts fall into this truck category and are designed to work within aisles which are more than 11 feet wide.
Stand-Up Ergonomics
The stand-up ergonomics include "Ergomat" padding with a sloped floorboard which is made to lessen operator exhaustion by absorbing vibration. The compartment for the operator is spacious and has an 8" low step height which helps reduce overall body fatigue by easing frequent entry and exit. The model consists of polyurethane steer tires to absorb shocks and vibration caused by uneven floor in order to enable smooth traveling. For added comfort, there is a cushioned armrest and floor mat together with a backrest designed to help keep drivers comfortable and hence more effective while limiting exhaustion.
